Nor me, I tried it after I had added that stuff about the switch to codeplex (I hadn't mentioned it before in the thread cos I didn't know about it at the time).

So I am still using eacfreedbfixer and still none the wiser as to why it's only Dypsis and I that need this tool

EAC Freedb Fixer was originally working for me, but now it isn't.

I have checked, and rechecked the settings, but everything is correct.

And ideas?

You are right man.

Why did it take so long for someone to find this?

Thank you...

Edit.
It worked on one computer once, but not on my other computers. (-:

Ok, ok... I am willing to have a look into the issue. If there is somebody for whom none of the proposed methods (-http1.1 nor the proxy) works, please let me know by Email and I will see what I can do...

/Andre

Smile I solved it for me, here's what I did

I ran into this problem ripping ma's CD's. So I think about this for a while and then I think of the hosts file. The hosts file is in:
Code:
*\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
You will want to open and edit it in notepad. I use Linux exclusively and am not really familiar with windows (Ma's computer). Hopefully this will work as it's a pain to drive over to ma's place to do maintenance on her computer. Working so far!

Code:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
195.214.216.38 freedb.freedb.org

Hello there, got the same problem, but another root cause: Windows Live Parental Control was blocking something in the flow, even with all box checked in the filter page. Just deactivate the filter by right click on the icon and that's it! Of course you have to be defined as a parent to do that...

I've written a simple utility to correct this and put it on codeplex at:

Yeah! This one has worked for me! Although you have to select the servers to test them until you find the one which can retrieve information to you...I tried http://freedb.freedb.org:80/~cddb/cddb.cgi and http://us.freedb.org:80/~cddb/cddb.cgi, but only http://es.freedb.org:80/~cddb/cddb.cgi has worked for me.
