After about one month and tones of trying like magic it's working, I have not changed one thing but it's fine now. Andre you did'nt fix somthing with the freedb database did you?

Arg, I've got to second this post that stated "If you click SHIFT-DELETE, (PRESS OK) then ALT-G (PRESS OK) it will work everytime."
Here's more info: been running EACv0.9b4 since release - never had any problems until yesterday, when attempting to retrieve song titles from freedb (ALT-G), it hung after "Status: Query CD Information" - specifically, the dialog box stayed open, but there was nothing in the Status box. I fiddled around with everything I could think of last night, then came here 1st thing in the morning. Disabling ZA didn't fix it, but clearing the song titles (SHIFT-DELETE) appeared to fix it. I realize that there is no apparent connection, but I thought I'd bring it up anyway. Since I don't know the EAC code, I can only surmise: EAC apparently stores the CD data after it has been retrieved from freedb - is it possible that this data storage has filled up & nothing more can be written to it? --- rex holmes |

EAC stores the actual album information in main memory... So there should be no connection at all, as the freedb query just overwrites the previous content...

There's definitely something strange happening with Zone Alarm (not pro). With my normal settings EAC can't access freedb. The EAC executable is permitted to access the internet in ZA and ZA shows no alerts, but EAC can't connect. If I reduce the security level to Medium (from High) then it works okay.
I wonder why ZA is blocking something and not telling me? EAC is the only program that has ever caused a problem for me in ZA. --JD |

Other Database
Andre:
You should consider to change the internet dabase provider for the one used by WinAmp for instance... this one never fails, everytime you insert a disc, it comes with the right information (at least for me, I'd never got a nasty "error, disc not found"), this database is really huge and it's also free for programs like yours. Just my 2 cents. |

I had the same problem with accessing freedb. For some reason, deleting EAC's registry entries solved the problem.

Well, it only worked once after I deleted the registry! Now it won't connect again. Also, I installed it on another computer and it still seems to be able to connect from there. Both computers are on an internal ethernet network connected to the Internet via a Linksys NAT router.

I had a similar problem (it was the second or third time I used EAC). The way I fixed the error was just to use a different freedb server. End of story!!

as of today I also received weird information from freedb or just no information. So I really think there's something wrong there, have tried all sites that are listed for freedb, but I just can't get CD info right now.

Freedb problems here too
For the past few days I've been having a lot of trouble getting any info from freedb. Once or twice it's worked, but mostly it hangs on "Querying cd information" for a long time before returning a garbled status message.
I don't run zonealarm, and didn't have any problems until a few days ago, during which time I haven't installed any new software. Afraid I don't really have any more info that might help track the problem down ![]() Simon |
