i just got a new laptop, with a DVD burner, and when i installed eac, i tried to set it up using the wizard, but it could not detect the cd i had loaded.

can someone explain to me what i need to do so eac will work? i dont know what all this ASPI stuff means, so if you could please explain it and tell me what to do, i'd be very appreciative.

[b]hey, maybe somebody here can help me - I'm having EAC/ASPI problems too.

I had EAC running correctly, until I installed adaptec direct cd. now I get this error:
Code:
The ASPI interface could not be initialised correctly! (Error E8h)
(No host adapters found)
EAC fails to load after that, so no chance of changing settings.

aspichk reports that the aspi layer is installed correctly [quote]

Does anyone know the fix for this problem. I can't even get into EAS to make any changes w/in the program as it will not load.

Hey, I had the same problems with not recognizing audio CD's, even after installing the Adaptec ASPI's and copying the wnaspi32.dll into my EAC folder.

However, when I downloaded ftp://ftp6.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll and saved it to my EAC folder (overwriting the one already in there), my EAC instantly recognized the audio disc.

Thumbs up

Copy this link where you have EAC saved.

ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/download/pc...dates/ASAPI.exe

This will allow the shaded install external ASAPI to work, under EAC options / interface.

I swear

A variation which drives me up the wall :-(

Hello!

I have read all of these posts. I have tried everything. Nothing helped.

Let me explain in-depth what my symptoms are, because they seem to be a mixture of what has bee´n said around here.

a.) All AudioCD ripping utilities can identify the drives and recognize that there is an AudioCD in the drive (they even use CDDB/FreeDB right), and play the audio.

b.) None of them can rip any part of an audio track. EAC gives the 'no extraction command found for this drive' error, and other progs give other errors, CD-Ex e.g. creates an empty wav file of the correct length but does not even produce an error message.

c.) WMP, on the other hand, CAN rip audio tracks (and encode them to wmv), but that is not an option for me.

d.) DVD rippers (which also use ASPI) can rip DVD files, some cannot. In SmartRipper, it works when I select "normal" (whatever drivers those are) and not ASPI.

e.) I tried: the 4.6 ASPI and the 4.71.

f.) I tried: putting various version of the Nero winaspi32.dll in the EAC folder and setting EAC to using the external layer.

g.) I tried: installing vob ASPI and setting EAC to use that.

h.) I tried: uninstalling all other CD rippers but EAX.

i.) I tried: using killaspi.bat from ForceAspi and then installing ASPI anew. When no ASPI was installed, EAC correctly told me so and wouldn't start.

j.) Both my drives (a cd burner and a dvd rom drive) were able to rip audio before; as far as I remember even on my current XP installation (I have not ripped audio for quite some time now).

I think that's all.

My guess is that either

I.) there is some setting somewhere in the system that disallows everything else than the WMP to rip audio digitally or that
II.) there needs to be some setting changed in XP to put my drives back to digital extraction (whatever program changed that).

Please, if anybody has any suggestions, as to what programs could be the problem, what I could try, what I could read (related trouble keywords), everything is more than welcome!

My email is JazzMC@gmx.de and my ICQ 168517275, if someone should want to get in touch with me personally :-)

Cheers,

Jan.

Question EAC and/or ASPI problem

What was working so well for 1 year is now not working at all. Very frustrated at this point. For the thrill of it I decided to download a newer EAC version (v.9pb.11) and all I have is an EAC icon that does not open. So I removed my old version and still nothing. So now I can't even go back to my old version. So I looked at FAQs & forums and there's alot of talk about ASPI drivers. I looked under "my computer" and there seems to be alot of drivers and I do not know which is which. So I downloaded the wn32aspi.dll one and still nothing happens. I decided to check out another ripper - CDEX and still nothing happens. I know computers only up to a point and alot of the jargon on these forums is very confusing. Can someone help me in laymans terms? I have winXP. I really do like EAC but I can't go on like this....please help.
Thanks,
Rich

EAC prebeta 4 has fixed this problem for me as well.

I recently got a new LiteON DVDROM and a LiteON DVD-RW drive and the old version quit detecting CDs.
When I deleted the program folder, deleted the reg info, and installed the new version it worked right away.

nforce2

I have used EAC for a while now but my motherboard blew up so I replaced it. Those of you with an nforce2 motherboard DO NOT INSTALL THE NEW IDE INTERFACE DRIVERS. I don't know if the new ASPI versions work with the new IDE drivers, but the version which is said to be the most stable (v4.60) does not work with it. Roll back the driver to the standard one that shipped with windows (I use XP but it should be the same for other versions of windows).

This is a weird problem and I would never have suspected it because nero seemed ok with it, however ******* and ******** were also affected. This only applies to nforce2 owners who updated their drivers recently but it fixed it for me.

Hope this helps.

THANK YOU! I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out why EAC stopped working. I rolled back the nForce IDE driver that I updated a while back, and it works again.

Thumbs up This works perfectly for me.

Me: WinXP Pro, Asus A7V266E (VIA Chipset), AMDXP2100, Sony CDU5221, Adaptec ASPI 4.7.1.2, Uninstalled ACDSee 6 (Because it sux-Not because of EAC).

EAC was working fine previously and one day I noticed it stopped.
I went for months without. After deleting the installation folder and registry entries.

The instructions at the following link worked flawlessly to get me up and running again:
http://www.chrismyden.com/nuke/modul...&file=painless

Go slow and follow the instructions precisely.
You'll be glad you did!

Thanks André Wiethoff for giving EAC for free!
Thanks Chris Myden for the help!

After applying this fix, and rebooting, now I can use ASPI with EAC! And it works great!

Thanks to Yakumo for this one:

Regards.
I used Force ASPI 1.7 downloaded from the following link:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/download_splash.cfm

1. Extract from archive.
2. Kill ASPI (double click the killaspi.bat)
3. REBOOT

4. Install ASPI (double click the INSTASPI.BAT)
5. Reboot

You should have a new ASPI layer installed. Worked perfectly on my XP Pro.
