Then i guess the only way is to reprogram eac to treat different drives exclusively, something only Andre is able to

Also, when talking of automatic rips, Staff: If you insert a disc with 10 songs, let eac do the task, wait for the disc to eject, and then insert a disc with 13 songs. Not only do you have to manually close the statuswindow, but at the next rip, only the 10 first songs are marked for ripping - I wouldn't call that automatic - or did i miss something again?

That is correct, but I just want to go one step at a time. I figured I can get EAC to close by itself when the ripping was complete.

Talking

Andre,

Since you are the king of EAC, do you think you could list all of the command line options? Also, do you think the automatic detection of the cdrom drive will be implemented in a future version of EAC?

Thanks,
Staff

To deactivate some features (that doesn't work with your drive) :

-nostopcommand
-notestunit
-nospeedsel
-noreadsub
-nocdtext
-nomultisession

To automate EAC :

-extract
-extractmp3

For writing :

-noshowbuffer
-forceplextor
-forceteac
-forcesony

And you can pass a .CUE file, so that the layout editor is immedately opened...

Hm...
Does the -noreadsub command override the key2audio corrupted cd's?

...or maybe it needs a -noreadtoc2 or -applyphilipsstandard or -forcemode1 command (it would be nice with any of these features though)

Another version of this would be to get the toc from a database and blindly apply it to the disc in the tray, nomatter what disc the drive thinks it has...

Andre: I was wondering if any of my above fantasy tags would be able to apply in real life?

No, but EAC will contain some more TOC retrieving functions...

I'm trying to do the same thing with a 7-cd scsi array, and all I really need is for the program to close after ripping... That way i could set up a batch file to go through 10 instances of EAC in order... Is there any way to do this?

I am still working on this rip project that is ongoing. I can rip CD's, but I cannot have unattended rips. Is there any improvements in the command lines, or options to choose which CDROM automatically? Also, auto-selecting the album title info would be excellent. Thanks Andre for your help.

Not at all. That should be an easy work-around:

Back in the W95 days, there was a freeware pgm called DUNCE, DialUp Networking Communications Enhancement, whose main function in life was to press an "OK" button when Bill's stupid DUN modem dialer was activated each time.

But even the freeware ver permitted you to config a window to look for and a button to be ghost-clicked for you...

If you want better than that, you'll have to come up with a smarter Dunce or else convince Andre to make that button time-out, accepting the 1st choice, after some interval.

+You could use Girder which has plenty of automation and remote control functionality but with a somewhat high learning threshold. It can for example monitor for a specific window and "click" OK when it appears. Girder was freeware up until recently with version 3.2.9b which I believe can still be found on the Internet.

+Also I believe no-one mentioned the -close parameter in this thread which closes EAC after completed extraction. Unfortunately, it doesn't wait until the "Compression Queue" is finished though so it's not very useful with -extractmp3. Maybe another version of the -close parameter (-closemp3?) could be added that waits until the "Compression Queue" is empty?

+I have a problem, when I use the -extractmp3 parameter I don't get the freedb lookups. I can get them just fine if I do it manually in EAC though. I have checked the "On unknown CDs, automatically access online freedb" option. This applies to both 0.95pb4 and pb5 for me. Anyone have any helpful hints or is able to reproduce the problem?
