I am trying to setup a server with 7 scsi drives attached (plextor 20X). I would like to automate the process so when a music CD is inserted, it will automatically rip to mp3's using EAC. I got it to automatically load in WinXP, and go to freedb, but if there is more than one match for the CD, it will just sit there until I prompt which one to select. I would like it to just select one, and start ripping. Is that too much to ask? The command eac.exe -extractmp3 was very helpful. If there is just a way to find out more commands, I would be in the house
Thanks, Staff |

...but when i get back up on the chair, i'm rather curious how exactly you get winxp to open eac and "mp3" the whole disc. (i know about how to get a program to run for a certain disctype, but where do you insert the commandline?) And the automatic freedb/cddb choice is something i've wondered about too. I do plan to use lame. Whats wrong with that? As far as the drives go, they are just 7 scsi drives which are pretty cheap now. I just want to rip all my cd's so I don't have to worry about scratching them up. The command line for autoextract is:
eac.exe -extractmp3 Staff |

Nothing wrong with that at all
![]() That's why we must talk, lol. (follow the link from above) Wanna send me one of the SCSI's when you're done? I'd be curious to hear how your box handles 7 SCSI's ripping at once.... chris |

I probably have about 10 to 20 extra 20x plextors if anybody wants them for $15 each plus shipping. I really need to know the command line stuff more than anything. Without that, my system won't work.

You know already -extractmp3
there are no more interesting ones for you... More stuff you can set in the options. Only backdraw is on automatic freedb query when multiple matches are found to select which one is correct. Everything else can be automated... cu, Andre |

I have tried a bunch of settings to get winXPpro to open eac, when audio-cd i inserted in specific drive - but no luck. I only get the standard "what do you want windows to do?" screen. I thought there was an open setting for that screen... hehe
Exactly where in the registry do you edit, and what does it say? Thankful for any help

-extractmp3 will automatically extract all audio tracks to mp3 whenever a CD is inserted in the actual selected drive... Thus it is automated. It is enough to let WinXP start EAC once on the beginning and it will do its job...

In windows explorer, go to tools, folder options, the file types. In there select audioCD, then create a file called 'extract'. Point that file to the directory where the extract.bat file is, and everytime you put an AudioCD in, it will automatically rip. That works great if you have one drive.
but.... If you have more than one drive, and EAC was set to rip from a different drive when it was last closed, it will just reopen to the last drive, and ignore the different drive that the audio CD was actually placed in. I want EAC to automatically select the correct drive when I insert an audio CD. If winXP would allow me to open a different program for autorun per drive, I could fix it by putting multiple copies of eac, and each cdrom would have the program files to rip that drive; but it won't work that way. PLEASE HELP ME!!! |

Hm... I must've done something off the charts here, nothing happens. Other than that i didn't have any extract.bat file - so i made a txtfile containing one line: "eac.exe -extractmp3" and renamed it to extract.bat. These are my present settings:
1) regedit.exe: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom\Autorun - value=1 2) regedit.exe: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AudioCD\Default - value=AudioCD 2) gpedit.msc: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Turn Off Autoplay - value=Disabled 3) explorer.exe: Tools\Folder Options\File Types\AudioCD\Advanced\Edit\ - Action "-extractmp3" Application to...["C:\Program Files\Exact Audio Copy\EAC.EXE" %1]. Confirm Open After Download - Checked. My system refuses to do any autoaction at all with audio cd's right now...but a right click on the drive with the cd in, gives the option: "-extractmp3" a click on that opens eac, but does not activate ripping. I guess i have screwed my registry by all my fiddling around... Calling skilled registryhackers: Heeeeeelp ![]() Edit post: I found out how you ment, Andre, and it works to open eac once with the bat file, and then just sticking in audiodiscs, one by one. But what i wanted was for the autorun function to call for eac - rip, and spit out the disc, encode and (wish!) close eac again. Last edited by charliecrash on 12-09-2002 at 22:09 |

I can write a bat file putting the -extractmp3 command, and get it to work on ONE cdrom drive. Multiple drives is my issue. How can I get multiple drives to autostart EAC, and rip with the correct drive?

Is it possible to install eac in 7 different places (hehe) and get one bat file at each location to call for the correct setting. i.e: you have 7 eac's open all at the same time - responding for each drive. I have never seen this done though. or... open eac with -extractmp3 7 times - choose different drives and kick in 7 trays at once... |

It will require 7 bat files; which I have no problem with. The problem is that winXP can only autoload one bat file for ALL cdroms. I can only use one bat file which limits me to one cdrom auto-extracting. There is no way to have each cdrom to load a separate bat file when an audio cd is inserted.
