Results DAEquality Plextor Px-40ts

[edit]
Logfiles analyse program added.
[/edit]

Here are my results of my DAEquality test of my Plextor Px-40ts @ 4 speed, 8 speed and max speed, both twice tested.

Can anybody give some comment? Why the differences? Shouldn't I always get the same results for a selected speed?

Note: the same reference cd is used as for the test of my LiteOn Ltd-163 and LiteOn Ltr-40125s.

These pictures must be compared with other drives in order to make any sense.
Looking at your results for the LiteOn 163, it confirms Andre's results : the Plextor is very bad at reading scratched CDs.

I disagree, comparing Upp3rd0G other results the 40TS only has 7-8 digits of errors wheres the other tested drives have 8-10!.

The PX-40TSi has never been great at error correction anyway ... if you take the time to search for some older reviews from computer magazines (must be around 1999/2000) you will find this confirmed - error correction qualities were often rated at some 50% when being compared to the "best" drives.

I can also confirm the DAE Quality rating for this drive - my old PX40 (in the meantime replaced by another PX40 ) did show the same rating on my DAE Quality test disc - and 8x always seems to be the sweet spot for DAE on scratched CD's.

JeanLuc,

I have a Plexwriter 24/10/40A & I have found the sweet spot to be at 24X, I believe you also have one, can you confirm this?

I gave my PX-W2410TA to my ex-girlfriend in the meantime (replaced it with a plex premium) and I found this drive to perform best (in terms of error correction) @ 4x CLV so this would confirm andre's original findings at the EAC website ... but there have been two hardware revisions of the 2410TA (one with active fan, one without - I got the later one without a fan) IIRC so this might be a possible reason for different behaviour (although I doubt this is the case).

If your drive performs best @ 24x, you are one lucky guy, though

Well mine is rather load so it may have a fan, I still have the box, could I check this? this drive has proved in the past to perform better at 24X, any lower didn't improve results & I have been testing it with a DAE quality test CD & it can't even complete the test @ 4x, 8x (just stalls) so this once again seems to show that this drive best performs at 24x.

Also, can your Lite-On LDW-411S overread into lead in+out?

I wish I could test this but EAC always stalls during offset/overread detection ... offsets are somewhere around +12 read correction and -6 write offset (Nero DAE quality combined offset is -18 Bytes) and, IIRC, from Nero DAE Quality test, it only overreads the lead-in.

But I never use that drive for DAE anyway ... DVD-writing, IMO, puts enough stress on it.

hmm ... our results won't be comparable if we are not using exactly the same test CD but I can send my results to you anyway ... just give me some days to find 'em (if not, I will have to reproduce them) ...

Thank you. Also regardless of the test CD most drives seem to score in the 50-70 area 70+ being a top drive but I just would like to see what your 40TSi scored with your test CD.
