What ? Not looking at the scratches, where the drive obviously lost control, the quality is exellent !

jesus fu**ing christ ... this drive seems to be really good on the blackened part ...

the "loss of control" in the scratched area appears 2 times @ 4x but only 1 out of 2 times @ max speed ? I don't understand this ...

If there is a skip in the resulting file that is too large for the analyser to handle, it will resynchronize itself to the old value and from then on most probably to the end show complete difference (as seen in the 3 figures)

I've added the logfiles and as can be seen in 3 out of 4 times there is a skip of 2939 samples...

I guess my scratches are too deep and not a representation of scratches caused by real life usage.

But I am still wondering what caused my drive not to skip during the last time I read it at max speed...

It is 5*588 = 2940 Samples... (Which should be large enough... Larger checking would slow down it even more. )
It should be sufficient when having "normal" defects...
I made some additions now and it should not happen anymore so easy. It will be available in a few days...

cu, Andre

The servos are probably optimised for high speed reading. A parallel can be made to car suspension (mass, compliance and damping) where suspensions tuned for high speed work horribly at low speed.

As can be seen I've added the C2 graph as well. For the black part this drive shows perfect c2 error reporting (blue graph). The drive didn't report all C2 error flags for the scratches because it could problably not read certain specific sectors.
