I forgot to mention that Lame v3.97 (Final) is now the recommended version at hydrogenaudio. Just thought I let everyone know that. Happy encoding.

I was thinking about this while reading some post on this forum. I've had people download UEAC pack and got a couple of thank yous. I like to know what people really think of this pack? Am I just wasting my time? Should I change or add something? Maybe I should dump this project? Who knows. I like to hear from people. Even if no one has anything to say, hitting the thanks button that's underneith my post, would put a smile on my face knowning that people do find this program useful to them.

To start this out I've left back a couple of thanks to a couple of users to show that the information they've provided was very useful and informative.

Here's your first "thank you". I think your UEAC is very useful for a lot of people. The configuration is way easier with your package.

Made some important changes to the pack. I've also decided to ditch egoshare because it sucked. This new host should be much better.

Any chance to release your EAC Pack with EAC 0.95 beta 3? For some obscure reasons , I do prefer this version more than the last one. Thanks a lot!

Hello. Your pack is useful. But for me has many useless and oldes encoders. Shorten,LA,LPAC,OptimFROG,RKAU and True Audio havent a good support on audio players. ITunes ALAC is very closed format and every hasnt iTunes installed. From Lossless encoders are used Flac,Monkeysaudio,Wavpack and from lossy encoders mp3,ogg,musepack and Nero digital audio. Accuraterip plugin is great for riping tracks only, no for cd image+cue.

@Rob: You know, I was thinking about how some of them are waste to have after releasing r11. From what I observed, some of them are either abandoned, not widely used or audio support is lacking on most portable devices. I was looking through the pack and came to a decision to dump LA, LPAC, OptimFROG DualStream (Not the lossless one) and RKAU for the next release. Not sure if I should I keep Shorten, True Audio and OptimFROG Lossless. My original intent of this pack was to give everyone choices. Like to see what others have to say.

By the way, I know AccurateRip is only good for checking against individual tracks and not CD Image. Maybe I should've mentioned that in the readme but that never came across my mind to put it in their. Guess that makes me a human.

@Juank: I'm not sure what you mean if it's possible to make a release with (or maybe you meant to say for) EAC 0.95 beta 3? I'm assuming you want profiles that is compatiable with that version? Maybe you can clarify that for me.

Please excuse me; that request was just a mistake: I thought your Pack includes EAC. But I have verified that I was wrong.

That's alright. At one point I wanted to include EAC in the pack but thought that was pointless considering EAC has it's own installer.

I am curious about something. Does that pack work ok with the version you're using JuanK?

The path to external compressors is "C:\Program Files\...". I'm using Windows 2000 Spanish, and the path should be "C:\Archivos de programa\..."

This issue will appear with the Non-English versions of Windows... and is not-dependant on the version of EAC, I think.

Sorry that has to work out that way. It would take awhile to change directory path for each profile in different languages and mind you the pack was meant for English and I'm only one person. Not really your fault. What would be a nice feature to add in EAC is being able to understand environment variables through the OS when choosing a path. Here's an example how Lame 3.97 profile is setup in my pack....

Program, including path, used for compression

How it's setup right now
C:\Program Files\Exact Audio Copy\Encoders\lame.exe

So for people that have the English version of the OS is all set, but you have a different language OS, thus it would cause a problem. You would have to manually change every profile to the right directory path (which is your case). Now if this feature were to get added, this is what it would look like instead.

Using Environment Variables to point to Program Files
%PROGRAMFILES%\Exact Audio Copy\Encoders\lame.exe

This eliminates the problem now because every OS (that variable is meant for Windows 2000/XP) knows where Program Files folder is (assuming environment variables is universal in different languages). Another problem it would eliminate is the drive letter issue because not everyone has their OS installed on C drive.

Hope I explained that right.

Pretty clear. Not an issue for me, because I don't use EAC for encoding. Thanks a lot anyway, your Ultimate Pack is still a great add-on for EAC. I'll follow your updates.

Hi. Thanks for your job. But i have some few suggestion. Please add profile Musepack preset Braindead, next profile OGG Quality 8, in Monkeysaudio please remove settings -4000(very hard cpu load usage), settings -3000 is optimal and recommended! Please add some basic profile without your settings and remove old and rarites encoders. I have problem with itunes ALAC. Foobar2000 doesnt play ALAC. Otherwise thanks for your time and regards.

Thanks for the suggestion Ollio. Here are my thoughts.

Add Musepack Braindead profile [DONE]
Good idea. This will be added.

Add OGG Quality 8 profile [DONE]
This will be added including quality 9 and 10 (for those who want the the highest quality out of their compressed audio)

Use -3000 compression for Monkey's Audio profile as oppose to -4000 [DONE]
One of my releases used -3000 at one point. Not sure which one it was. I will change it back to that.

Add some basic profile without your settings [NOT DONE]
I will add a basic profile if you can suggest me settings I should use. Others can suggest as well.

Also keep in mind you don't necessarily have to use the EAC Preset configuration. You can manually configure EAC and just use the audio compression profile. EAC Preset configuration was created just to make life easier and realize it's not for everyone.

Remove old and rarites encoders [DONE]
I've mentioned in my previous post I would dump LA, LPAC, OptimFROG DualStream (Not lossless) and RKAU. Come to think of it, I should dump Shorten, True Audio and OptimFROG Lossless as well. Expect these to be gone in the next release.

I have problem with itunes ALAC; Foobar2000 doesnt play ALAC
There is a plugin (not officially supported by the Foobar team) that can play ALAC. Thank god for 3rd party developers.

Optional Plugins
http://www.foobar2000.com/components/index.html

Direct Link
http://www.foobar2000.com/components/foo_input_alac.zip

The plugin has known stability issues according to the note. Seems to work without a hitch from what I see and I use Foobar2000 as well.

OTHER NOTES

I was thinking of adding AccurateRip back into the pack. What I thought turned out to be bugs were not. This time I will create a seperate profile. That way it's possible to switch between EAC Preset Configuration with or without AccurateRip.

That's it for now.
