I think that this can be done better with a kind of batch command tool for the command line calling LAME or so... I don't think that there are regular interest in such a feature, as usually compression should be done on extraction (otherwise you have a lot of files without any tags...)

Hi Andre,
With the new version, I have started to rip my CDs as Images encoding them as FLAC files with embedded CUESHEETS. For every CD, it asks me where I would like to save the file (actually, there are three files -- FLAC, CUE and LOG). Would it be possible to use the "Filename" settings in the "EAC Options"? This would allow me to control the directory for each CD Image, just like I can do with individual files. Having three files (four if I also throw in album art files) makes for quite a mess if all of the CDs are held in one folder. Thanks. kockroach |

fantasy features:
my focus is on the mp3 button/function.. and the settings for file > compression options > External compressor objective is to facilitate using multiple pre-defined compression profiles and to make multiple compressions per extraction. existing [external compressor] setting is for only one type of compression, i.e. mp3 with lame and while there is a convenient drop-down menu for choosing 32k to 1024k, [additional command line options] offers no similar multiple choice. bottom line is being able to do ALL of this with one click, one pass: extract wav files, then: encode to FLAC encode to .ogg Q10 encode to .ogg Q5 encode to .ogg Q0 encode to .mp3 64k encode to .mp3 192k encode to .mp3 320k encode to speex encode to AAC eject CD The idea is to be able to use multiple compression configuration profiles and then simply call them from a master front-end compression selection page which would allow selecting any and all of the saved user-defined profiles. External Compression Selection per Pass/Extraction: [x] FLAC OGG [ ] (profile name) (brief description) (encoder/command line options?) [ ] "ogg-ultra" (Q10), (encoder/command line options here) [x] "ogg-CD Quality" (Q5) " [ ] "ogg-p2p" (Q3) " [ ] "ogg-FM quality" (Q0) " [x] "ogg-Speech" (Q-1) " MP3 [ ] "mp3-320" (320k) (LAME %l-V 5%l%h-V 2%h --vbr-new %s %d) [ ] "mp3-192" (192k) " [x] "mp3-160v" (160k VBR) " [ ] "mp3-128k" (128k) " [x] "mp3-32k]" (32k) Speex [x] "spx profile 1" .....etc [ ] "spx profile 2" .....etc AAC [x] "AAC-profile1" .....etc [ ] "AAC-profile2" .....etc [an additional tag for filename would be needed for multiple mp3/ogg encodes such as Q6, Q0 for ogg or 160v for mp3 to distinguish between versions. This compression profile ID tag could be added to the compression profile and be user defined, as filename variable %P (compression profile) ] |

I, and i'm sure, many, many, others also would like that Andre entirely from now on focused on improving/updating the secure reading strategies in EAC, and not wasting time on e.g. adding new pre-setup codecs etc.
I would suggest looking at Spoon's dBpoweramp R12.2 ripper and checking out that apps secure ripping strategies and then implement the same kind of functionality in EAC. I would e.g. like this : Rip the track/image in burst mode and if it matches AccurateRip, then stop. If not, then rip the track/image again in burst mode and if that matches AccurateRip or the first rip then stop. If not, then use cache-flushing and re-rip over the bad areas in smaller blocks until x amount of matches. This would in one strategy replace 3 of the strategies there now is in EAC. What i mean is that many of us do the following and which my proposal would do automatically : Start with ripping in burst mode and check with AccurateRip and then if theres not a match, then you do burst mode with test & copy and if there is not a match, then you rip in secure mode. @Andre If this is too much work, then please consider adding the following strategy to test & copy ripping(both burst and secure mode) : If you have AccurateRip enabled and if the disc is in AccurateRip, then also check the first test pass against AccurateRip, and if it matches, then write the test pass to disc and quit running the second copy pass, since you allready have a secure rip. This means that we could have test and copy enabled always, but to only run the extra ripping pass if it is absolutely needed. Just my 2 Cents... |

Just wanted to say sorry about my previous post, as i can now see that Greynol had allready asked for the exact same things in the very beginning of this thread.
Still though, i'm not giving up the hope about Andre some day will change his mind about this and implement the use of C2 pointers upon rereads and to use the same kind of ripping routines as Spoon does in his dBpoweramp R12.2 CD Ripper. Oh well, one can always dream

Hi there,
I have 2 APE file with cue file. Each is a copy of a CD. The volume of each CD is below 40 minutes. I want to combine these in to 1 CD, how to do? Here is what I tried but not successful: Open the CD Layout editor windows: Load cue sheet of CD1 (it load the track list normally) Load cue sheet of CD2 only (it load the track list of CD2 but clear the list of CD1) How to add the cue sheet without clearing the previous cue? (like "append file as new track") Or how to split a combined APE file in to individual APE files for each track? Thanks.

As i have previously said, then i would absolutely much rather have Andre focus on improving/rewriting the ripping modes, but as he said that it wasen't a priority for him, then i would like to request something else.
My request is about making EAC support the writing of images with embedded cuesheets, just like Burrrn allready does. Burrrn supports it for WavPack, FLAC and Monkey's Audio and if EAC also would do that, then it would be great. For WavPack and Monkey's audio, then EAC would need to parse the 'cuesheet' APEv2 tag and for FLAC, the 'cuesheet' Vorbis comment tag(FLAC also have an CUESHEET metadata block, but as it dosen't support storing any CD-TEXT at all, then it's practically of no real use to anyone IMHO). Burrrn dosen't decode and write on-the-fly and so if EAC would do that, then it would also be great and much preffered, but either way would be fine, though. I think that many people are now beginning to use EAC to also write audio CDs, instead of just ripping, now that EAC support almost all writers available through it's cdrdao frontend, and so this functionality would really be great, as more and more people are beginning to rip their CDs as lossless images with embedded cuesheets. Anyway, this is just a request that comes from my frustration of having to continuesly decode WavPack images to wav and extract it's embedded cuesheet('wvunpack.exe' decodes + extracts the cuesheet with it's '-cc' switch) and then change the cuesheet's 'FILE' section to have a '*.wav' extension and first then being able to load the cuesheet into EAC for writing an audio CD. Btw, the reason i use EAC instead of Burrrn for writing images with embedded cuesheets, is because that Burrrn dosen't write CATALOG numbers with my drive(cdrdao' s fault, not Gambit's) and because of EAC offering offset corrected writing. Using BOTH C2 and multiple read
My request would be to have a secure ripping mode where EAC would BOTH check C2 reporting and do multiple reads.
I started a thread about this: http://www.digital-inn.de/exact-audi...nal-layer.html |

Detection of pregap after data track is working incorrect (is it working at all or EAC substitutes 2 seconds for all discs?). It gives a lot of problems to me and other dumpers. Please remove this "feature" or add real pregap detection.

@Dremora: It will work only in a specifc gap mode (I don't know, either A,B or C...)
It works correctly, at least it will never work better... Keep it or leave it... cu, Andre |

I just wanted to add my grunts of agreement to the following, already mentioned requests:
1. Full internal FLAC support. That of course includes re-reading FLAC files, but also producing cue sheets for compressed flac files. 2. Possibilty to produce real 1:1 copies from both images and individual ripped files. 3. Possibility to rip tracks (or images), cue sheet and log with one single command, all into one and the same directory following the output directory configured for the tracks. Thanks, Massimo |

Hello Andre
Read and report ATIP data in the rip log would be a nice upgrade. thanks @ccdmas 2. Possibilty to produce real 1:1 copies from both images and individual ripped files. This has always been possible |
