...And if you consider adding FLAC writing support, then please also consider WavPack. Many people on e.g. HA.org that used FLAC in the old days have later on changed to WavPack(including myself), since it's a very flexible codec which can compress better than FLAC and decode nearly as fast if wanted also, while having many advanced options and modes to choose from and a better command-line interface(i.e. supports wildcards on Win32 for both inputfiles and for e.g. cuesheets/eaclogs for embedding them into apev2 tags; *.cue or *.log). A good idea IMHO, and which would mean much less work for you, would be to add an 'External Decompressor' options page to the writing preferences in EAC, where we could choose the command-line decoder to use for decoding before EAC writing the decoded data to disc, and then prefferably to add a 'Decode on-the-fly' check-box, which would make EAC take input from stdin and then it would be up to the user to configure a command-line which decodes to stdin e.g. '-' for most encoders.
I could also live without a 'Decode on-the-fly' check-box, but it would be nice nonetheless... |

Is there a reason why the new log file does not show the Accurate Rip value if the track is not present in the database? It used to show this with EAC version 0.95.

Using a generic commandline-decompressor is not possible. For every decompressor specific adaptions need to be done (not so for command line encoders, as they work on files!). Even more, some of them do not support STDIO output of the audio data (or with various headers), so it would be very difficult to do. It was hard for LAME.EXE (and I only did it because the LAME.DLL was not able to decode MP3s). But I do not plan to add any further command line decompression tools.
I will have again a look at the FLAC decompressor, but last time I had a look, the SDK was very hard to look through, so I stopped the interface development (which is not easy in ModulaII) cu, Andre |

Anyway, if you say that it can't easilly be done, then i guess you're right then.... PS : When looking at the FLAC API, then please also consider adding WavPack writing support to EAC : Guide to using the WavPack API to read or write WavPack files, and also information on using the WavPack library to encode or decode ZIP files that use the WavPack format : http://www.wavpack.com/lib_use.txt Windows DLL version of WavPack library (with devel info) : http://www.wavpack.com/wavpackdll.zip Last edited by Martin on 07-10-2007 at 20:27 |

Fix to freedb disc id missing when export whole database
Andre,
Can I put in a request to fix the freedb disc id option '%F' when exporting the 'entire' database to DB text? The option to export info for a single CD outputs the disc id correctly, but the option to export the entire database results in a string of eight zeros in place of the disc id, e.g. "00000000". Thanks very much for your great program. |

If accurate stream is enabled in secure mode, then i would like that no sync blocks were used, since overreading the cache by 2MB for each 2x2MB read, just for being able to flush the two sync blocks out of the read cache isn't the best thing to do when considering the drive allready is accurate stream and since sync errors still would be caught as read errors if there weren't any sync blocks.
Also, as i have said before, then please consider adding a Test & Copy mode where the test rip is written to disc and compared to AR and if it matches, then no need to do the extra copy step. |

Please could you add support to relative paths ("external compression" section)? It would be useful for portability (usb pen drive, etc.).
thanks |

Changing Track Numbers in EAC
Hello,
One new feature that would be nice is to be able to change the track numbers when ripping a CD. I particularly would like this feature because I rip a lot of multi-cd audiobooks and I like to combine the files from all of the ripped CD's into one folder. So, for example, if I rip a book that is on 3 CD's and each CD has 15 tracks, then I like to put all those files in one folder with track numbers from 1 to 45. I used to rip with WinAmp and WinAmp has a nice option to control track numbers. The option is "When tagging ripped CDs, make track numbers start with ___." So, for example, if I'm ripping that 3 CD book with 15 tracks on each CD, when I rip the second CD all I have to do is change this option to "16" and the track numbers for the second CD will start from 16. For the 3rd CD I would change this option to 31. It's very easy and convenient as it saves me having to go back after ripping to edit all the tags to get the track numbers and file names right... Thanks for this great program! Bradley |

Hello everybody, here's my suggestions:
1. Correct total tracks number when ripping a cd with data track. Important! (funny how nobody seems to have noticed this) 2. User defined character replacement tables. (higher priority!!!) 3. Add ReplayGain calculating for tracks AND album. Tags and apply to files options. (flac, mp3, etc.) Is it doable? Maybe somebody with more knowledge would like to complete this request...? 4. Add comment edit fields for every track (for tagging). For information like: track version, recorded live at X, X cover, with X background singer, etc. 5. Pass DATA track boolean info to cmdline. Could be used to backup files to subfolder, example in REACT. Also pass info from which drive the rip comes. Or make EAC do this. A simple "copy data track" -checkbox if data track is present in the CD. Copy all files found in CD to, in example, DATA subfolder. 6. Option to select how many times EAC should try to re-read bad positions in track when error(s) encountered. Why? Bad positions vary sometimes when you re-read cds again and again many times. Or a "recover mode" feature to rip track(s) over and over again which saves all rips temporarily and finally combines error free track(s) from "good pieces" (hard to describe, hope you'll understand). Visual example: (x = error) rip 1: -------x----x-------------x--------- rip 2: -------x----x----------------------- rip 3: ------------x-------------x--------- rip 4: -------x------------------x--------- final: {--(rip3)--}{---(rip4)---}{-(rip2)-} Could work also with "Copy Controlled" discs? |

Probably not a frequently-requested feature but one that I'd find useful (and would probably be trivial, he adds, as a coder who hates users telling him features will be trivial to add
)... And sorry if it's been requested in the 11 pages above.Several CDs I own split "fugue" track sequences and I'd like them not to be split, so that when I'm playing back in "random track" mode, I get the whole fugue. Some way of visually "gluing together" the tracks, so they extract as a single file, would be really neat. (Currently, I have to grab the WAVs and glue them together by hand, then encode them.) |

EAC has the ability to rip ranges and they can now be verified with AccurateRip.
Have you tried pressing F7? |
