Profiles to store and change Parameters

I do change some of the parameters when ripping CDs for different use.

I would pretty much like to be able to store and recall certain settings such as compression rate and drive speed.

That would help to switch between different modes to work with.

Example: When ripping for use in the car, I use 128kB/s, while for tracks to be used for party, I use 320kB/s to get a better dynamics.

Also, when ripping CD's I will use for "intensive listenning" like in hifi, I go to high Bitrates and the save CD read modes that are significantly slower taking more time to rip CD's.

Dump Track number to respective (MP3-)Tag

Why do you write the Track into comment instaed of offering to write it into the respective tag field?

EAC allready features profile loading/saving support.

ID3v1 dosen't feature a 'track' number field and hence, EAC by default adds the track number to the ID3v1 'comment' field instead, so that you will be able to identify the correct track number also on ID3v1-only players i.e. non-ID3v1.1 supporting players. EAC by default sets ID3v1.1 tags, which does feature a 'track' number field.

Thanks & More

Thanks so much for the quick reply!

Found the profiles. Does the Job! Any information, WHAT is stored in the Profile? ANY Parameter or only a subset?

Also got the ID3 v1.1 stuff and the Track entries.

Thanks!

You are very welcome, mate

There are two places where profiles can be managed in EAC. From the EAC menu > 'Profiles', and from the status bar at the bottom of the window with the 4 buttons : Load, Save, New and Delete.

The profiles saved through the EAC menu will contain everything, while from the status bar at the bottom you can click on 'New' and then select if the saved profile should include everything or e.g. just the compression, extraction or drive specific options only.

@Andre

I would appreciate if you would consider adding a verify feature to EAC's writing routines. Of course it can be done manually, but it would really be nice to have it done automatically after the writing finishes and the disc is reloaded. Personally, then i really feel that this would be a very nice addition to EAC

Nfo Creator

Hi Found this OLD thread about NFO creator from user zavar 28-12-2004

How about an NFO creation feature?

I'm not talking about something fancy that would support ASCII art. I'm suggesting an expanded version of the following: Database> Export CD Information To> Text File.

I am aware that the contents of the text file can be customized under "Database Options", but information commonly found in NFOs are missing as options.

For example: source, album size, album runtime, ripper, encoder version, encoder settings, bitrate and perhaps a couple of others.

There's space for another tab under "Database Options" that could be labeled something like NFO Export. In that tab the user would be able to select the info he wants to be included in his .nfo file, the label next to which that info would appear, and whether and where any comments should be added.

So after the user had set up how his .nfo file wants to look like, he could go to Database> Export CD Information To> NFO File and such a file would be created!

I'm sure many users would find such a feature useful and those who wouldn't, would still be able to use the simpler export to .txt file option.

I realy like this Ide' !! Can it be something in the future.....

A few requests from a new user...

1. Some albums have several tracks with the same name... so if a file already exists, EAC should automatically rename the new one (to something like "artist - track [2].mp3") instead of overwriting the previous one.

2. I like to rip multi-disc albums into the same directory. Therefore it'd be nice if, when a playlist already exists, EAC would add the files to the end of it instead of overwriting it.

3. Custom playlist filenames. I like to add an exclamation mark to the beginning of them, to keep 'em first in directory listings. For the same reason, many others add "00 - " while the actual tracks are named like "01 - artist - track.mp3".

4. When implementing support for user defined character replacing, please allow the use of more than one character. For example, I'd like to replace double quotes with two single quotes, ":" with " -" etc.

I think that's all, for now... :-)

EDIT: Nope, it wasn't;

5. I see EAC already has a couple of options in "Database > Transform Actual CD Information" to affect the capitalization of song titles etc. I suggest adding options for "sentence case" (only the first word capitalized) and "mixed case", for which the user could choose which words not to capitalize (for default values I'd suggest http://rateyourmusic.com/wiki/Capitalization).

Anyway, keep up the good work!

Wishlist?

I have to say that since I started using EAC I wouldn't touch any other ripper with a barge-pole (it's ages since I used that expession) Apart from the superlative audio, one feature I especially like is that you don't have to wait for the compressor to finish the previous track before ripping the next (EAC Options > Tools > Tick - On Extraction, start external compressors queued in the background. I seem to remember in earlier versions it was 'wait for external compressor to finish' or somesuch) so you can keep feeding the computer CD's ASAP and let the queued compression jobs to stack up. Magic.

What I'd really like is priority settings in EAC for the compressor and the ripper independently. Although you can set the CPU priority for an EAC extraction/compression as a whole, the ripper works fastest when it's higher priority than the compressor. To get this effect I set the priority in EAC to 'Normal' and then manually change the priority of EAC.exe to 'AboveNormal' in TaskManager, but the priority of EAC.exe reverts to 'normal' when you start a new rip so you need to keep doing it... Could you please add that ?

Cheers!

1.ability to edit detected gap layout would be great (maybe even better linked so that when you increase pause, audio decreases and such)
2.mode detection for data tracks in .cue

I would like EAC to have the following features:

1. Direct support for more lossless formats (TTA, FLAC, WavPack, etc.), both ripping and burning.
2. Ability to rip the CD tracks based on CUE sheets, especially the ability to extract them without pre-track gaps (not the same as silence between tracks), i.e. preserving the silence in the beginning of the track and before the pre-track gap of the next track.
3. Unicode support (both the track name editor and freedb).
4. View log files of CD ripping at any time (currently only can do it right after ripping but not afterwards). This feature exists in CDex, another free CD ripping software.

Thanks in advance.

EAC can already do this.

EAC can create log files which can be viewed at any time after they've been created.

I would love to see EAC rip to stdout so that it can be used with encoders that have pipe support such as flac and TAK.

please dont flame me lol/ maximum respect to the developer/ i'm not a OPEN SOURCE OR DIE! kind of guy but it seems that if this program was opened sourced a lot of these issues/features could be solved/added by the community and the prog would have wider OS support... any chance of it?
