Timing errors even in burst mode - Am I SOL?
I am ripping some CDR's that I had created many years ago on Mitsui media.
Much to my horror, almost all of these are giving me timing errors on tracks after about half of the disc is ripped successfully (tracks 1 .. 3 gets ripped, 4, 5 gets stuck). This happened on my Plextor PX-116A. The disks were written on PX-716A. I first figured it was a hardware problem, and tried to rip them on my work PC (Phillips DVD-ROM) using WMP. The same thing happens there .. After a few tracks, I hear the head seeking sounds and the process grinds to a halt. Am I SOL as even burst mode is giving problems? Any tips on extracting the tracks using EAC (I don't care how long it takes). Will buying another drive help? Which one is the best? (USB preferred, as I can then use it on my future PC purchases). I have plextools. Can that help in pinpointing the problem? |
