Lightbulb Newbie Question- EAC and DVD Player

I am a total newbie to audio recording, so please forgive me if this question is answered elsewhere.

The reason for me downloading EAC was on the hopes that I could burn custom audio CD's that will play on my Sony DVD player, which doesn't support home-grown audio CD's. However, after reading all the literature I could find on configuring EAC, and burning a CD, the Sony deck still doesn't recognize my CD's.

Am I wrong in assuming that this would be possible using EAC, or am I doing something incorrectly?

    Thanks!

    Graham

There is not a program that can make the Sony read the disc. I have a Sony DVD DVP-535. It will not read copied CD's. I have tried different disc's and programs. This is by design of the players. If you look now on their site, all the new Sony DVD players will play CDR's and CDRW's. They even have one for $199 that will do this. So maybe time to buy a new DVD player!!!

Thanks for the reply! I had a feeling this was the case.

maybe you can upgrade the firmware.
I wouldn`t know if there are for your model but it`s worth giving a try

Firmaware cannot change the physical ability of a drive to go from single read to multi-read capable. It is a hardware limitation...good thought though.

    Hi
i don`t quite understand cause i don`t know the unit spec, you mean that it doesn`t even read original audio cd`s? if that`s the case i see (it`s gotta be one of this old first generation thing)

GrahamC was ripping with EAC and making CDR's (Home-grown CD'S). All Sony's DVD players until very recently have been single read drives (can ONLY read original media). A drive would have had to been manufactured as a multi-read (can read multiple formats CD, CDR, CDRW) hOPE THAT HELPS...

Try writing a CD-RW as they have the same layer structure as DVDs. Many people reported that they work where CD-Rs were not accepted (mainly for selfmade SVCDs )

Unregistered IS THE MAN!! I have had my Sony DVP-535 for 2 years now and gave up on CDR's, I just recently got a Plextor CDRW, I took your advice and wrote some audio to a CDRW and the Sony DVD player read it instantly!!! Thank you!!
